Budding Formula One engineers from Fife showed that they are destined for high flying engineering careers after celebrating success in the National Finals of the Formula One in Schools Technology Challenge held at the Autosport International Show in Birmingham on 10th and 11th January.
A student team from Lochgelly High School, were delighted to win the Innovative Thinking Award sponsored by the Silverstone Innovation Centre. The judges unanimously agreed that Road Rippers had shown their initiative in developing a piece of equipment to measure drag, one of the key factors in determining the speed potential for their race car. Their methodology and practical approach was recognised with the presentation of the Innovative Thinking Award.
