Business Advisor
Reporting to: Project & Incubation Director
Location: Rotherham & Barnsley
About the Company:
Oxford Innovation provides services to growing companies, and to government bodies that promote enterprise. The company operates thirteen Innovation Centres, including new Centres at Barnsley, Sheffield, Silverstone and Portsmouth, which provide flexible office and laboratory space to over 300 technology, knowledge-based and creative companies, a number of whom have floated on AIM.
Overall Responsibilities:
You will act as a Business Advisor and mentor for our client companies, helping to co-ordinate Business and Technology Support, in partnership with the Centres’ technology partners and regional development agencies.
Main duties and responsibilities:
- To provide hands-on mentoring support for clients, fostering an open door team environment in the incubators.
- Broker business support needs of clients with specialist providers, develop a network of support providers and manage relationships
- Assist the Business Incubation Director in managing projects, contracts and outputs for external funders.
- Develop new products for the technology and business incubation programme
- Identify opportunities for technology based events and event management in the centres
Person specification:
- Considerable first hand experience of working with new start-up businesses and entrepreneurs (ideally someone who has run their own company with experience of business development).
- Knowledge and experience in business planning, financials and marketing.
- Knowledge of government funding, and local and regional business support infrastructure.
- Experience of working methods in an incubator or business incubation programme.
- Knowledge of EU/ UK & South Yorkshire funding streams
- Local knowledge within the Engineering and Technology industries.
- Strong communicator and marketeer, able to build client relationships (internal and external).
- Highly enthusiastic and hands on, proactive and creative, hard working.
- Results focused, good communicator, strong IT capabilities.
- Engineering / IT degree or equivalent, with post-graduate business related qualification.
